Obituary
'Alta Mae West, age 88 the daughter of the late Melvin and Mae Kidd Baker, was born July 30th, 1923 in the Burfield community of Wayne County. She passed away, Wednesday morning, August 3rd at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.
On May 28th, 1945 she united in marriage with, John West, her devoted husband of 66 years. To this union two daughters survive; Bonnie and her husband Kenneth Hardwick and Carolyn and her husband Don Gregory.
Also surviving are four grandchildren: John Hardwick, Jill Hardwick Johnson, Mitchell and Daniel Gregory; Three great grandchildren: Katelyn and Joseph Hardwick and Tyler Johnson: Two sisters, Hatie West and Shirley Abbott with numerous nieces, nephews many other relative and friends to mourn her passing.
She is preceded in death by her sisters: Joyce Gregory and Evelyn Tucker and brothers: Ralph and Kenneth Baker.
Mrs. West had accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of the Big Springs Baptist Church.
