Obituary

Anna Belle Winchester Gregory was born September 29, 1926 and departed this life Saturday, January 2, 2021 reaching the age of 94 years.  She was the daughter of (the late) Haney and Pearl (Bell) Winchester.

She married Wintford Gregory and to this union 3 children were born.

She is survived by: her children, John Wintford (Audrey) Gregory, Jr., Gerald Allen (Sandra) Gregory and Barbara (James) Pendleton, a great friend who is like a daughter, Lula (Cecil) Turpin; 10 grandchildren, Allen, Stephanie, Shandra and Jay Gregory, Marissa Rodriguez, Jaime Pendleton and Casey Bell; 24 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen (Logan) Ross and Jean (Jim) Bloemker; and a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by: her husband, Wintford Gregory; one grandson, Richard Pendleton; two brothers, Lawrence Harold and Jimmy Winchester; and three sisters, Jewelene Lavender, Judy Braden and Carol Valda Winchester.

Anna Belle grew up in the mining town of Cooperative, Kentucky. She met her husband while visiting with her grandparents Doug and Dora Coffey Bell in the Coopersville Community.

She owned and operated Gregory's General Store along with Wintford and served as Post Mistress at the Coopersville post office for over 40 years.

She accepted Christ as her Savior at a young age and was a long-time member of the Canada's Creek Baptist Church.  Anna Belle loved singing the hymns along with the choir and did so without a song book as long as she was physically able to attend.

After breaking her leg three years ago and already having Dementia, she was blessed with the wonderful caregivers, Deanna Worley, Ella Vaughn and Bethany Bell, who came into her home and became an extension to the family.

Anna Belle has been blessed to be part of a five -generation family tree at two separate stages in her lifetime.  First, as a grandmother and again as a great-great grandmother.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 7, 2021 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Friday, January 8, 2021 at 11 am at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Dobbs Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Gideon Living Memorial Bible Plan and Alzheimer's Association.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and upon recommendations from the Governor's Office for Funeral Homes, there will be some restrictions for service attendance.  You are asked to please wear a mask or facial covering and observe the social distancing guidelines.  No communal food or drinks are allowed at this time.  Please feel free to sign the online guestbook or send a private condolence message through out website.
