On November 12, 2021, Arawana Rayborn Drake passed away at the age of 91.  Arawana, known to many as "Doodle," was born on February 13, 1930 to Sam Rayborn, Sr. and Ida Dykes Rayborn.  She graduated from Somerset High School in 1948 and shortly thereafter began working in Monticello in the office overseeing construction of the Wolf Creek Dam.

While working in Monticello, Arawana met and married G.D. Drake.  Arawana and G.D. made their home in Monticello and had two children, Rick and Shanyn.  In 1962, Arawana and G.D. started Drake Chevrolet-Chrysler, which served customers in and around the Monticello area for fifty years.

Arawana was an active member of First Baptist Church for over sixty years.  She enjoyed playing golf and traveling. More than anything, she enjoyed being with her family.

Along with her husband, Arawana is preceded in death by her brother, Sammie Rayborn, and her two sisters, Virginia Pauline Stone and Kathleen Heaton.  She is survived by her two children, Rick (Marilyn) Drake and Shanyn (Stephen) Staples, four grandchildren, Dr. Mack (Andrea) Drake, Drake (Mary Ellen) Staples, Dillon (Kaitlyn) Staples, and Carson Staples, and two great-grandchildren, Graham and Griffin Drake.

The family will receive friends at the Hickey Funeral Home on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and before funeral services, which will be held at 12:00 PM on Monday, November 15, 2021.

Bro. Glenn Hickey will be officiating.  Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
