'Audrey Elizabeth (Foster) Patton was born on Poplar Mountain/Clinton County on December 27, 1928, a Thursday. She passed to her new home/from this earth on February 06, 2019 at 90 years of age. Her parents were Henry Alfred Foster and Pollyanna Lucinda Elizabeth (Foster) Neal both deceased for many years.
She married James Sherman Patton on June 20, 1947 in Jamestown, Russell County, Kentucky. They had four children who all survive: Bennie Gayle (Sharon) Patton, Elizabeth Carol (George) Keeton, Jerry Thomas (Rita) Patton and William Sherman Patton. They were married fifty five years until his death in 2012. There are seven grandchildren: Maria (Tom) McFarland, Rachel (Adam) Vaughn, John (Marissa) Patton, Jeffrey Thomas Sexton, Denise Elizabeth Branham, Autumn (Jason) Bertram and Claudia Gayle Patton. Thirteen greatgrandchildren and two great greatgrandchildren
She was the sixth child. Audrey was proceeded in death by order of birth: Lillis Rosea Stonecipher, Theodore Wesley Foster, Marvin Willard Foster, Mary Golda Denney, Sammy Alfred Foster, Sylvia Ann Rigney, John Timothy, Russell Foster, Betty Jean Gibson, Kenneth Lee Foster and Oscar Donnie Foster.
\tShe is survived by sisters Sylvia Ann Rigney in New Castle, IN and Linda Loretta (Polly) Groce of Albany, KY.
Audrey Patton received a very minimal amount of education, but it was enough that she taught herself to read and write and do sums after she was married. She was primarily a mother - a great one. She worked in the Monticello School kitchen for a time. She was a fabulous gardener who always planted and harvested according to the signs. Mom encouraged each of us, according to what worked best, to read. We always knew who was the boss - all five foot four inches. No memories would be complete without mentioning apples: picking them, drying them, pies, turn overs and the refrigerator in which she stored them.',
