Barbara Faye Phelan (Coffey) of Monticello, Kentucky was born August 24, 1939 and gained her angel wings in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 27, surrounded by her children, reaching the age of 83 years. She was born in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Alfred Wilburn and Nancy Ethel Coffey.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter; JaLane Marie Phelan Speaks (Mike Speaks), two sons; Mark Theodore Phelan, Stanley Patrick Phelan, one sister; Juanita Nell Wampler, ten grandchildren, Missy, Jeremiah, Jessica, Jessie, Kyle, Nicole, Cody, Misty, Shelbi, Kayla, and several great grandchildren; along with a host of family and friends who mourns her passing.

Barbara was welcomed home by her loved ones who preceded her in death, parents Alfred Wilburn and Nancy Ethel Coffey, husband and "other half" Theodore Joseph Phelan, one daughter; Rhonda Faye Phelan Mitchell, one son; David Joseph Phelan, one sister; Anna Margaret Mason, and one brother; Howard Alfred Coffey.

Barbara was an avid reader who enjoyed traveling. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, "cool" aunt, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Barbara accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior many years ago and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 3rd from 12 PM until 2 PM in the Hickey Funeral Home chapel with Bro. David Sargent officiating. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Bluegrass Hospice Care Center at UK HealthCare, 800 Rose Street, Lexington, KY 40526.
