Benton Godsey age 81 of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Unit of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

He was born August 28 ^th , 1939 in Wayne County, Kentucky the son of (the late) Oscar and Alice Hardwick Godsey.

On July 11 ^th , 1964 Benton married Rita Aldena Morrow and to this union, three children were born.

He is survived by two daughters; Lisa (Junior) New and Cynthia Bell (Fiancé) Jess Pratt, one son; Clayton Godsey, one sister; Renda West, six grandchildren, and three great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters; Gertie Bertram, Lizzie Moran, and Ollie Dieter, two brothers; Marble and Regil Godsey, and two infant brothers.

Benton accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the Clay Hill Baptist Church in the early 70's and was a member of the Upper Turkey Creek Baptist Church at the time of his passing. He also served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1964.

The family will receive friends Saturday, March 27 ^th from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27 ^th at 11:00 AM at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dewey Burks officiating.  Burial will be in the Upper Turkey Creek Cemetery.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
