Bernice M. Black was born July 24, 1932, and departed this life Wednesday, February 7, 2024, reaching the age of 91 years. She was the daughter of (the late) Raymond and Flonnie (Morgan) Piercy.

She married Leland Black and to this union 3 children were born.

She is survived by sons, David (wife Janice) Black, Terry (wife Linda) Black, and Donald (wife Patty) Black; four grandchildren, Jason, Terrian, George, and Jefferson; 3 great-grandchildren, Austin, Paislee, and James; 1 sister, Neva Thompson; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Leland Owen Black; 2 grandchildren, Michael and Matthew; 4 sisters, Treva Pitman, Bonnie Lank, Georgia Allen, and Mason Buchannan; and 3 brothers, Bob Piercy, Gene Piercy, and Paul Piercy.

Bernice was a member of the High Street Baptist Church in Somerset.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 9, 2024, from 5 PM – 8 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 2 PM at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
