'Bertha Tucker Southwood, age 76 was born March 29, 1935 in the Delta community of Wayne County; the daughter of the late Marvin and Dina Clark Tucker. She lost her battle with cancer, Thursday morning, March 31st, at the home of her daughter.On May 28, 1965 she united in marriage with Joe Ray Southwood who passed away August 4, 2002. To this 37 year union one daughter survives; Beulah and her husband Steve Hancock.Also surviving are two grandsons; Seth Hancock, Josh and his wife Jessica Hancock: two great grandsons, Caleb and Dalton Hancock; siblings, Oreda, Cennie, Cloie, Lucy and James Tucker; Mary Simpson and Elva Holycross, with many nieces, nephews other relative and friends to mourn her passing.She is preceded in death by her sisters; Rosie Correll and Julie Tucker and brothers, Marcus and Ulis Tucker.As a young lady she had accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of the New Town Baptist Church at the time of her passing.
