'Betty Castillo Cooper was born on June 24, 1930, at her family\u0027s home in Monticello, Ky. She was the youngest of 3 children born to her parents, James Isacc and Alma Phelps Castillo.
On New Years Day, 1956, she married Charles Fredrick Cooper. They were married until his death on June 6, 2017. In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille Castillo Tuggle and her brother, James William "Bud" Castillo. She is survived by her sons, Charles Michael (Beverly ) Cooper of Lexington and James Thomas Cooper of Monticello. She is also survived by her 5 grandsons and 7 great grandchildren.
Betty was a 1948 graduate of Monticello High School, a faithful member of the 1st Baptist Church and a lifelong Democrat. She was a long time employee of 1st Southern National Bank, starting there when it was the People\u0027s State Bank.
Betty loved life and was full of life. Always ready to see new things, she was a lover of travel and she and Charlie were blessed to visit 48 states and travel throughout Canada and to Mexico and the Bahamas. A competitor by nature, she loved to play softball and tennis in her younger years. She loved a good bridge game and cherished the friendships she formed over a lifetime of playing. Mom loved her Lord and served Him faithfully. Mom loved to laugh and to sing. She was very proud of her Spanish ancestry.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She impacted many lives both inside and outside her family. God blessed Mom with a long and satisfying life. She had a grateful and gracious spirit and will be missed by family friends.',
