Obituary

Irene Simpson passed from this life on Thursday, March 17 th at Golden Years Nursing Home after being in very poor health for several years. Irene was born December 30,1932 on her parent's farm at Mt. Pisgah. She was the daughter of the late Stella and Matthew Burnett.

In June 1954 Irene married Army veteran Paul Simpson of Mt. Pisgah and they moved to Muncie, Indiana. In April 1964 Irene and Paul moved back to their farm at Mt. Pisgah and lived there for the next forty-five years. They were the parents of six children.

Irene was preceded in death by her husband Paul in May 2010, her son Troy in July 2019 and grandson Reuben Koger in April 2002. She is also preceded in death by three sisters; Betty Fairchild, Jewell Burnett, Mary Hurt, and one brother; Curtis Burnett. She is survived by her children Steve Simpson, John Simpson, Paula (Sam) Koger, Ronnie (Glenna) Simpson, Mark (Debbie) Simpson, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, as well as her brother Guy Burnett of Muncie, Indiana.

Irene's close family members and friends were her world, and she has missed the ones who had already passed on. She was a lifelong member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 20 th from 10AM until 1PM in the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel with funeral services following at 1PM. She will be laid to rest with her husband Paul, son Troy, and twin sister Betty in the New Sandusky Chapel Cemetery on HWY 167 at Sumpter, Kentucky.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Gideons Memorial Bible Plan or the New Sandusky Cemetery Fund.
