Obituary

'William 'Bill' Barton Dobbs will be sadly missed by so many. He went to be with the Lord on Tuesday April 7th, 2015. Bill was born February 10th, 1928 in Monticello, KY which he called his home for his entire life.

The only interruption in his passion for farming was the two years of service he spent in the US Army. With his honorable discharge, he came home to devote the rest of his life to growing crops and raising livestock. After his dad's passing, he became the primary care giver for his mother and accepted the full responsibility of operating the farm. Bill not only was passionate about farming but also was very successful in that role, even receiving public recognition for his efforts. He remained active as a cattle farmer until last year.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Crusoe and Minnie Dobbs and a younger brother, Ralph. He is survived by many friends in the Monticello community, his sister, Marjorie Heinrich, and five nephews: John (and wife Jodi) and Barton (and wife Tammy) Drew and Mike, David and Jeff Dobbs. His great nephews and nieces (Olivia, Lucas, Haley and Madison Drew) took almost as much delight in driving one of his tractors around his farm fields as he did in making arrangements for them to do so.

Bill lived his life with great integrity. We never met anyone who did not have a kind word to say about him as he lived life with a mantra of fairness, integrity, honesty and good humor. He took great pride in making his word his bond and by embracing each of his friends and family in a manner that showed great love and respect without ever mentioning either of those words. To be a person with such great humility he lived his life in a way that commanded great respect.

He will be fondly and forever remembered by all those fortunate enough to have known him.

Bill's family would like to extend our thanks to each of you who have been so meaningful to Bill over the years. Words cannot adequately express our appreciation for what that has meant to him and to us.

A very special thanks to those of you we asked to serve as pall bearers: Roy Corder, Jimmy Roberts, Don Huffaker, Raymond Huffaker, Curtis Thompson, Lewis Huffaker, Reed Gregory, Ray Crosslyne, Doug Vitatoe and Freddy Dobbs.

Finally, there needs to be a most heartfelt 'hallelujah' to Curtis Thompson who almost single-handily kept Bill and the rest of our family afloat over these past many months.

We offer our most sincere thanks and blessings to you all. You have no idea how much your friendship, help and support has meant to all of us and how happy you made our Uncle Bill.
