'Jessie Franklin Hammond, age 83 was born in the Delta community of Wayne County, August 17, 1932 the son of the late Corbin and Vada Branscum Hammond. He departed this life, Sunday, January 17th at the Veterans Hospital in Lexington.

On June 28th, 1959 he united in marriage with Artie Marie Clark Hammond who survives. To this 56-year union three children survive: Fred and his wife Debbie Hammond, Judy and husband Michael Ditchen, Scott and wife Kelli Hammond.

Also surviving are four grandchildren: Matthew and Ali Ditchen, Jacob and Trevor Hammond and brothers: Paul and Corbin Hammond Jr.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: Helen New,Lucy New, Cecil, Warren and David Hammond.

Bro. Hammond served his country with honor in the Army during the Korean War. He had accepted Christ as his Savior and surrendered to the ministry as a young man. He was a faithful member of the Monticello First Baptist Church at the time of his passing.
