'Butler Bell was born, October 2, 1924 in the Barrier community of Wayne County, the son of the late Menzo and Martha Bell. He departed this life Tuesday morning, October 9th, at the Saint Joseph Hospital in London.
On April 9, 1948 he united in marriage with Audrey Foister Bell who survives. To this union eight children survive: Karen Bell; Patty and her husband Lonnie Piercy; Robbie and wife Cindy Bell; Randy and wife Susan; Timmie and wife Kathy Bell; Deborah and husband Don Piercy; Kevin and wife Rhonda Bell and Shawn and wife Tracy Bell.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; his sisters: Clara widow of Bro. Howard Dobbs and Georgia and husband Troy Hammons and his brother: Obie Bell.
Early in life he accepted Christ as his Savior and became a member of the Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church. At the time of his passing he was a member of the Big Springs Baptist Church.
In 1945 Butler enlisted in the US Navy and served his country with honor. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked at WK Contracting laying pipeline, and worked in the local saw mills. He later enjoyed farming and was a very hard worker, laboring as long as his health permitted.
He loved his family and they meant everything to him.
