Charles Eugene Dick, age 88, of Monticello, Kentucky passed from this life on May 9, 2020 at home surrounded by family. He was born on June 22, 1931 in Monticello, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Elbert Dick and Nona Baker Dick. He was preceded in death by his four siblings - Ovid Dick, Oleva Dick Chriswell, Harold Dick, Evelyn Dick Hardwick, and has one living brother, Rev. Kenneth Dick.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Charlcy Morrow Dick, and to this union were born five daughters - Phyllis (Ed) Back, Beverly Burnette, Marlene (Randy) Troxell, Dwanna (Mike) Meadows, and Peggy Bertram. They were also blessed with six loving grandchildren - Jeremy (Shonna) Back, Laura (Jared) Long, Chandler (Shawnda) Burnette, David (Rachel) Selvidge, Matthew Bertram, and Emily Bertram; great grandchildren - Jaylen and Brooklyn Burnette, Eli, Gus, and Rowen Back, Clayton and Olivia Selvidge, and John Paul and Charles Long; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
He served 4 years in the United States Army and was deployed to Korea, where he was held a prisoner of war from May 18, 1951 to April 24, 1953. He was awarded the Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster along with several other medals.
He accepted Christ as his Savior at age 13 and later called into ministry, pastoring several churches in Monticello, Albany, and Bellville, Ohio from 1960 to 2008. Additionally, he traveled to numerous counties in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Ohio, giving his testimony at Gideon meetings.
In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: Gideons Memorial Bible Plan, First Baptist Church, DAV, or Hospice of Lake Cumberland
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, and upon recommendations from the CDC for Funeral Homes, a PRIVATE service will be held for Bro. Charles Eugene Dick. Though services are limited to immediate family members only, please feel free to sign the online guestbook or send a private condolence message through our website.
