Obituary

'Charlie Hartford Branscum was born March 22, 1916 in the Delta community of Wayne County, the son of the late Ira and Vada Hammond Branscum. He departed this life early Tuesday morning July 22nd at his home.

On August 6, 1938 he united in marriage with his wife of 75 years, Mable Young Branscum, who survives. To this union eight children survive: Jimmy and his wife Betty Branscum of Indianapolis, Pearl Kendrick an Pete of Somerset, Adell and husband Bruce Singleton of Ashville, NC, Ruby and husband Darrell Denney of Monticello, Ina and her husband Tevis of Kingsport, TN, Willard and wife Ginny Branscum of Somerset, Mary Baker of Monticello and Carol and husband Terry Alton of Monticello.

Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and four step grandchildren; his special nephew, Larry Branscum and two great-great grandchildren; three sisters: Christine and husband Hurstle Mayfield, Della Keith and Nella Casada with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends remaining to mourn his passing.

Charlie was preceded in death by his sister: Stella Marsh and brothers: Walter, Hubert and John Robinson Branscum as well as four infant siblings.

Charlie and Mabel began their life together as a couple on Saturday, August 6, 1938 on Sunday the 7th of August Charlie accepted Christ as his Savior and became a member of the Zion Baptist Church where he remained faithful the rest of his earthly walk. He was a farmer who loved to fish and coon hunt, he enjoyed making friends with everyone he met and always greeted them with a handshake and a smile

Thursday from 5 to 9 and Friday until 9 at the Funeral Home. Friday from 11 to 1 at the Zion Baptist Church
