IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Corbin
Gregory
February 6, 1941 – November 3, 2020
Corbin Gregory was born February 6, 1941 and departed this life Tuesday, November 3, 2020 reaching the age of 79 years. He was the son of (the late) Levi and Audress (Davis) Gregory.
Corbin grew up in the Rocky Branch Community of Wayne County. Soon after his marriage to Anna Ruth, he moved about a half a mile up the road and lived there the rest of his life. He loved this community and spent the last couple of years sitting on his front porch watching his boys, as he called Joey and Kaleb, train their horses and waving to neighbors as they drove by. People frequently stopped their vehicles in the road just to talk with him for a few minutes from their car. His charisma, charm and ability to remember a good joke just drew people in.
Corbin spent most of his career working in construction for various companies and on the road crew for the county and state road departments. He could always be counted on tell you which roads he graded, where he hauled rock, where he laid pipe or obscure facts about even the most remote locations in Wayne County.
Corbin loved to read a good western novel, having read every Zane Grey, Louis L'Amour and Max Brand book ever written. He and Anna Ruth loved their Wildcats too and could always be found tuned in to watch the Cats play. His favorite pastime for many years was visiting the City Pool Hall to have a good political discussion with someone there, shoot a mean game of pool, most of which he won as he told it, and visit with the many close friends he made there.
He was also a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for many years.
Most precious to Corbin was his loving family; especially, his wife of 61 years, Anna Ruth. He was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and loved those hugs from his great granddaughters.
Corbin is survived by: his wife, Anna Ruth; daughter, Teresa (husband Alan) Rankin; son, Joey (wife Pamela) Gregory; grandchildren, Kaleb Gregory, Gregory Rankin, Corey Rankin and Sherry Gregory Edwards; great grandchildren, Ariana Rankin, Chandler Anne Rankin, Sawyer Kate Rankin, Taylor Jarboe, Katelyn Edwards and Haley Edwards; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: son, Randy Gregory; sister, Josephine Bates; and brother, Robert Gregory.
He was a loving father, grandfather, relative and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
