'DAVID LYNN EDWARDS

David Lynn Edwards, age 72, of Monticello, Kentucky passed away Tuesday April 18, 2017 at the Jean Waddle Hospice Care Center of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

David was born November 4, 1944 in Wayne County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Earl and Hasil Asbury Edwards.

He married Ruby Jones on August 12, 1967. At the time of his death they had been married for 49 years.

David is survived by his wife, Ruby Edwards, his son Clinton James Edwards and his wife, Amy; his daughter Amy Lynne Edwards Turpin and her husband, Jeff; two brothers Bobby Gale Edwards and his wife, Louise; Ralph Arvid Edwards and his wife, Audrey; one sister-in-law Vesta Lou Edwards; three grandchildren James Riley Cole and Jacinda Addison Edwards, and Ridge William Turpin; three nephews, Bobby Gale Edwards Jr. and his wife Daisy, Jonathan Ralph Edwards, and Jeffrey Earl Edwards; two great nephews Franz and Alvik Ibisate; and great niece Kimberly Ibisate along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Hasil Edwards and his brother Wilmer Glenn Edwards.

His career included the following:

David served with the heavy artillery unit of the Monticello National Guard for 6 years in the 1960\u0027s. He was a graduate of Wayne County High School, a member of the Wayne County Basketball Hall of Fame and attended Berea College. He also worked for Retail Credit Company while he was in the Guard. He was a former Master Commissioner and Trial Commissioner. David became a Licensed Real Estate Broker and operated Monticello Realty for several years. He worked for the Monticello Utilities Commission from 1991 to 2014 as a licensed Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator. After he retired in 2014 he went back to work for the Utilities Commission as a consultant while their new plant was being built. He continued to work until he became ill in 2015.

David gave his heart to the Lord at a very early age and was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He attended regularly until he became ill with cancer. He enjoyed going to the Dairy Queen and drinking coffee and talking politics with his friends. He especially loved getting on his tractor and heading out to bushhog a field for someone. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, his extended family, and his church family.

He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to those who knew him. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation:
Thursday from 5 to 9 at the Funeral Home and Friday from 9 to 11AM at the Church

Funeral:
11AM Friday at Immanuel Baptist Church
