IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Delores Jones
Correll
June 30, 1941 – January 24, 2020
Delores Faye Jones Correll, age 78, of Monticello, Ky, passed away on Friday, January 24th, 2020 in Somerset, Ky.
Delores was born in Monticello, Kentucky to Ephrem and Ruth Coffey Jones on June 30, 1941. After enjoying a happy childhood, she was sickened with a severe case of Rheumatoid Arthritis at the young age of 17. After graduating from Wayne County High School, she married Joe Milton Correll on June 18, 1960. Even with this debilitating disease, Delores put up a good fight throughout her life and made the best of her situation to be an inspiration to others. Regardless of the challenges she was faced with, she said that there is always a positive take away and that happiness comes from within.
Delores enjoyed traveling. She spent four years living in Germany due to her husband's job. She enjoyed wintering in Las Vegas with Joe, was a mean player of Bingo, always found a way to brighten someone's day with her infectious smile, loved to play practical jokes on people, and most importantly, was a generous person to those she loved just to see them smile. She always had a solution for any problem even when a problem did not exist and had a to-do list for Joe to accomplish each day; which, he typically ignored in hopes of her forgetting about it which she often did. Delores and Joe were a match made in heaven and were partners in crime and on the 24th of January, were reunited.
Delores is preceded in death by her husband, mother & father, and her sister, Ilene Jones Criswell.
Delores is survived by her children, Douglas Correll (Lindsay) and Leigh Anne Correll, grandchildren, Victoria Loren Correll and Archer Copland Welch, brothers, Willard, Dallas, and Daniel, numerous nephews and nieces, and very special dog, Bruno that she says she never wanted and that getting Bruno was your father's idea, but in reality, she too had a special bond with the little guy. Bruno kept her company after her husband's death while living in the nursing home.
As a child, she accepted Jesus as her Savior. She attended Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church as her health allowed.
Memorials may be given to Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
