Delta C. Tucker of Monticello, KY passed away peacefully in her home on February 14 th ,2023 reaching the age of 84.
Delta was born on March 26 th ,1938 to Oliver and Zina Clark. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Alta Branscum, Willie Clark, Noel Clark, Flonnie Coffey, Mae Martin, and Henry Clark.
She met her husband, Eugene Tucker, while attending Lick Creek Baptist Church and has stated it was "love at first sight". They were married on September 10 th ,1955 and together they raised a beautiful family of seven children: Reda Morrow (Thurston), Peggy Gregory (Michael), Donna Roberts (Danny), Mary Dishman (Tommy), Russell Tucker (Allyson), Rebecca Madison (Randy), and Brian Tucker (Tracy), all surviving. Eugene preceded her in death on December 27 th , 1999.
Delta had an adoration for cooking, baking, and canning and always made sure her family was well-fed. Her famous dried apple pies, potato salad, and gingerbread were known and enjoyed by all. She was able to extend this passion into a career as she worked as a professional cook for Big Sinking School for several years. She later became employed at Lake Cumberland Youth Development Center (known locally as the "Boy's Camp") as a cook until she retired.
In addition to cooking, Delta enjoyed quilting and made numerous quilts for her children and grandchildren throughout the years. She also enjoyed gardening and puzzling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by 9 grandchildren, Shannon Morrow, Preston Morrow, Valerie Roberts, T.J. Dishman, Veronica Little, Bryson Tucker, Jase Tucker, Blake Tucker, and Faith Tucker, along with 13 great-grandchildren.
Delta accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Old Charity Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 18 th , 2023, between 5 PM-8 PM in the chapel of Hickey Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday February 19 th , 2023, at 2 PM at Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Old Charity Baptist Church Cemetery.
