'Dorothy Marie Abbott Coffey was born in the Ritner community of Wayne County, August 20th, 1930 the daughter of the late George and Artie Abbott. She went home to be with her Lord, Friday evening, June 28th at the Golden Years Nursing Home reaching an age of 88 years.
On March 26, 1948 she united in marriage with John Henry Coffey who passed away November 16, 1996. To this 48-year union two children survive: Sandra and her husband Russell Alley and Jesse and his wife Deby Coffey.
Surviving are three grandchildren: Somer and husband Adam Davis, Rachel and her husband Knox Piercy and Benjamin Coffey; five great-grandchildren: Case and Claire Davis, Nash and Payne Piercy and Weston Coffey.
Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was the last surviving child of the George and Artie Abbott family. She is preceded in death by two sisters: Lona Abbott and Minnie Vaughn and seven brothers: Elmer, Obie, Claude, Robert, Coy, Roy and James Abbott.
She had accepted Christ as her Savior and was a member of the Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church. She sang in the choir and attended faithfully as long as her health permitted.',
