Earlene "Bunny" Riddle Foster, born June 1 8, 1956, to Everett Hall Riddle and Evalee (Sexton) Riddle, departed this life in her home on October 2, 2026, reaching the age of 70 years. She was a beloved Mother, Mamaw, sister, aunt, and friend whose outgoing spirit and love for others touched everyone who knew her.
Affectionately known as Bunny, she was truly a friend to all. She had a vibrant personality, a caring heart, and a lifelong love of taking care of others. Bunny was proud of her family, and some of her greatest joy came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as Mamaw, a name that carried countless memories of love, laughter, music, and time spent together.
Bunny loved the outdoors and could rarely pass up the opportunity for a good yard sale or a trip to a thrift store. She enjoyed the thrill of finding a hidden treasure and the simple happiness those adventures brought her. She shared that love of bargain hunting with her granddaughters, teaching them that sometimes the greatest treasures were not the things they brought home, but the laughter, stories, and memories they made together along the way.
Bunny had a strong faith and knew her Lord and Savior. She grew up attending Bethesda Methodist Church, in the Hall Valley community where she grew up and dearly loved playing in the mountains. In 2012, she joined Keen's Chapel Methodist Church, where she was a member.
Music was also an important part of Bunny's life. She loved to sing, especially gospel hymns and classic country songs, and she passed that love of music on to her children and grandchildren, teaching them to sing along with her. Whether it was "Going down the Valley" hymn or Conway and Loretta's "Nothing Cold as Ashes" she ensued the granddaughters knew every lyric and she kept those songs on repeat as they traveled down to their next adventure with Mamaw. Those songs will forever remain a special reminder of the joy and warmth she brought into their lives.
Bunny is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Sue Foster; her son, Roger Shane Foster and his wife, Ashley; four granddaughters, Courtney Stockton, Haley Stockton, Mackenzie Foster, and Gracie Foster; six great-grandchildren; her siblings, Sue Riddle and Roger Riddle; three nieces; one nephew, and a host of cousins and friends who all mourn her passing.
Another faithful companion in Bunny's life was her beloved dog, George, who was by her side for 16 years. Their bond was a special one, and George brought her many years of companionship and happiness.
More than anything, Bunny will be remembered for the way she loved, She loved her family fiercely, cared deeply for others, enjoyed life wholeheartedly, and never met a stranger. Her outgoing nature and vibrant spirit made her someone people enjoyed being around, while her generous heart made her someone they could count on.
Though she will be deeply missed, Bunny leaves behind a lifetime of memories: songs sung together, afternoons spent outdoors, trips to yard sales and thrift stores, laughter shared with family, and the unconditional love she gave so freely.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 5 PM – 8 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel.
Hickey Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements.
