'Elizabeth Hutchinson Cowan was born in the Frazer community of Wayne County on November 15, 1943, the daughter of the late James Russell and Nota Bertram Hutchinson. She departed this life early Sunday morning at the Wayne County Hospital reaching an age of 73 years.

She was united in marriage with Russell E. Hunter who passed away June 1, 1989. In 1976 she united in marriage with John Raymond Cowan who passed away July 8, 2002.

She survived by four children: James Leroy Hunter, Ed Russell Hunter Jr., Gary Mitchell Hunter and Tracy Nicole Hunter Diop. She is preceded in death by three children: Sharlene Lenore Hunter Sloan, Harold Edward Hunter and Gwendolyn Hunter.

Also surviving are a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; her step children: Cathy Ferrell, Debra Sandusky, Sherry Cowan, Ruby Berry, John Raymond Cowan Jr., Bobby Cowan and Dennis Cowan; her sister, Lorean Sloan and brother, Monte Delon Hutchinson.

Her deceased siblings are: Agnes Piercy, Margaret Crawford, June Hutchinson, Ray, Rex and Russell Hutchinson Jr.

Elizabeth had made Christ her Lord and was a member of the Mt. Zion AME Church.
