Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Chriswell Lair of Monticello, Kentucky passed away on February 3, 2025. She was born March 12, 1952, to the late Gifford and Ilene (Jones) Chriswell. Elizabeth's life was as colorful and varied as the floral arrangements she lovingly crafted as the owner and floral designer at Lair's Flowers and Gifts. From opening day on February 11, 1974, until she retired in 2018, her artistic flair brought beauty and solace to many during their most significant life events. Her flower shop became a mainstay in Monticello for 44 years and her family lovingly continues her legacy to this day. Her dedication to her craft was second only to her commitment to her family, friends, and the community that she cherished.

She loved to travel, having visited all 50 states, 10 countries, and 3 continents. Elizabeth enjoyed immersing herself in new cultures, not just for the experience, but also to pick up fun facts to outwit you in the next Jeopardy game. She had a song for every moment, waking up to the radio and filling her home and car with music that made life more fun. Above all, Bitty and Pa never missed a chance to cheer on their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, traveling a million miles to be their biggest fans at games, performances, and activities. That same dedication extended to her community, where she was always finding ways to give back in any capacity she could. She was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Leaving behind a legacy of love and fond memories, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Jerry; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Irvin and Katherine (Polson) Lair along with several other family members.

Elizabeth is survived by three children Andrea Lair, Heather (Carl) Bryant, and Chad (Heather) Lair; four grandchildren Alyssa Michelle Lair, Andrew Chadwick Lair, Sarah Katherine Bryant, and Jenna Elizabeth Bryant; three great-grandchildren Emmalyn Rae Lair, Sophia Alexis Rua, and Isabel Blake Rua; sister Wanda (Terry) Matthews; one nephew Danny (Stacy) Coffey; one niece Danica (Tony) Kidd; two great-nephews Eligah and Aiden Coffey; and one great-niece Heidi Kidd.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, from 11 AM – 1 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 1 PM at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery with Brother Rick Catron officiating.

Pallbearers: Andrew Lair, Danny Coffey, Eligah Coffey, Aiden Coffey, Tony Kidd, and Jay Gregory.
