Ernest Cosby Gregory was born January 31, 1920 and passed from this life on May 6, 2020 at the age of 100 years. He was the son of Johnie and Effie Young Gregory.

Survivors include his wife Neva Hucaby Gregory, their children- Carol and her husband Lorenzo Miniano of Jacksonville, Florida, Jerry and his wife Doris Gregory of Hopkinsville, Kentucky and Debra and her husband Brad Foster of Paso Robles, California. He is also survived by four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Ernest was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Hubert, Hershel, Sterlie and Paul Gregory, his siters Buna Gregory and Bernice Gregory Bertram.

Ernest served his country in the military for ten years, two years with the Monticello National Guard, four years in the U.S. Navy and four years in the U.S. Army. He served with honor in World War 2 and earned six bronze stars and numerous campaign ribbons.

Ernest was a master plumber, electrician and carpenter for many years and assisted in the construction of many homes and businesses in Monticello and Wayne County.

He accepted Christ as his savior in October of 1950 and had been a member of the Monticello First Baptist Church since 1984.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, and upon recommendations from the CDC for Funeral Homes, a PRIVATE funeral service will be held for Ernest Gregory. Though services are limited for immediate family members only, please feel free to sign the online guestbook or send a private condolence message through our website.
