Floyd served our country during World War II, serving in the U.S. Army between August 1942 and the fall of 1945, and achieved the rank of corporal in the Quartermaster Corps. After returning home to Big Sinking, he began his career as an auto mechanic and worked for several dealerships over the course of nearly 40 years. He retired from Stearns Motor Company in the early 1980s.

Floyd was an active member of Big Sinking Baptist Church. He attended Big Sinking for most of his life and deeply loved his church family. He served many roles in the church including groundskeeper and treasurer alongside maintenance and custodial duties. He was instrumental in the growth of the church through various projects.

In his spare time and, depending on his season in life, you could find Floyd small game hunting, playing baseball or softball, golfing, tending his garden, or going on walks with Mildred. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan and supported UK and Wayne County athletics.

Floyd was a loving and dedicated husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, relative and friend who will be sadly missed.
