George Author Cowan Jr. (Buddy) was born on September 29, 1963, to George and Nina Cowan. He was the first-born son after four girls and a bit spoiled.

Buddy was baptized in Eddyville, KY. He had a plumbing certificate; he was a handyman and was good with construction. He helped many people. He enjoyed hanging out with friends, gun, tools, and he liked to cook.

He is proceeded in death by his father; three sisters: Mildred Coffey, Hazel Cowan, and Evana Jo Cowan. Also, one nephew, James Perkins and stepson, Jonathan Peyton.

He is survived by his mother, one brother; Mitchell Cowan and four sisters; Frances (Kay) Allen, Alice Perkins, Phyllis (Jeff) Grinstead and Ada (Jeff) Waddle. In addition to a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

While we knew he was sick, it didn't hurt any less when God called his name after midnight on April 27th, 2024, reaching the age of 60 years old. As the family woke up with the news of Buddy's passing, those that went before him were awaiting the reunion.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, from 11 AM – 1 PM in the chapel of the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, at 1 PM at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion A.M.E Cemetery.
