'George Tucker, age 83, was born in the Freedom community of Wayne County, August 7th, 1924 the son of the late Charlie and Eliza Morrow Tucker. He departed this life, Friday, July 11th at the Golden Years Nursing Home after an extended illness.

On December 18th, 1945 he united in marriage with his wife of 62 years, Lela Jones Tucker, who survives. To this union ten children survive; Marie Clark, Lonzo Tucker, Wilma Rose, Estelle Phillips, Margaret Tucker, Joyce Branscum, Geraldine New, Teresa Tucker, Josephine Gregory and Bernice McGuire. Three infant children precede him in death, Brenda, Helen and Larry.

Also surviving are 33 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild; three sisters, Cloma and Clara Tucker and Zona Detmering and three brothers, Oscar, Lawrence and Ernest Tucker.

He is also preceded in death by three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; his brothers, Delbert, Arnold, Robert and an infant.

George had accepted Christ as his Savior as a young man and became a member of the Freedom Baptist Church and later moved his membership to the Lower Turkey Creek Baptist Church where he remained faithful as long as his health permitted
