'Gladys Joy Selvidge Burton, was born September 25, 1931 in the Spann Hill Community of Wayne County the daughter of the late William Thomas and Olivia Hughes Selvidge. She passed away Tuesday morning in the Hospice Suite of the Wayne County Hospital reaching an age of 86 years.
She is preceded in death by James Burton and to this union three children survive: Barbara and her husband Gary Dick, Phillip and his wife Patty Burton and Joanna and her husband Brian Jones.
Also surviving are her grandchildren: Erica Roschek, Kerri Foy, Lindsay Schott, Ashley Dunnington, Wesley Dick, Emilee Burton and Logan Jones; eight great grandchildren: Olivia, Miles, Vivienne, Avery, Emerson, Brody, Carter and Claire. and her sisters-in-law: Leatrice Selvidge, Gwen Selvidge and Grace Burton
She was the last surviving member of the William Thomas and Oliva Selvidge family. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Mary Ina Tuggle, Willeta Blevins, Ruby, Howard, Junior and Robert Selvidge.
As a young lady she accepted Christ as her Savior and became a member of the Spann Hill Baptist Church and was an active member of the Monticello First Baptist Church as long as her health allowed.',
