'Grace Dick Ramsey, a local business person and civic leader died, Sunday December 24th, 2017, and joined her late husband Herbert Ramsey and son, Howard Lee Ramsey in Heaven. Grace led a full life throughout her 98 years but was know first and foremost as Christian, having been a member of the Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church.
Grace was born, October 19, 1919, in a small community of Pueblo, Kentucky to Frank and Bertha Dodson Dick. Grace had sisters: Dovie Anderson and Dora Miller and one biological brother: Clevie Dick and a special cousin. She treated this cousin, Omer Morrow as a second brother. All her family precedes her in death.
Grace Married Herbert Ramsey on July 23, 1943. Her son Howard Lee Ramsey was born on July 27, 1945. Their life was marred by the tragedy of Howard Lee's early passing from an infectious illness at the age of 14 on September 19, 1959. She and Herbert grieved his death and as an act of love toward him invested their lives in their nieces and nephews and the children of their nieces and nephews. Many of their great nieces and nephews felt as if they had additional grandparents through the generosity and attention that Herbert and Grace gave them.
Grace had a distinguished career in business. She and Herbert founded and grew Wayne Auto Parts over several decades and grace also worked at Ben Franklin four years and also First Southern National Bank for eleven years. She and Herbert provided personal customer service to the residents of Wayne County through the business, opening it after hours to serve those in need or who had emergencies.
Grace and Herbert were avid University of Kentucky basketball fans. They sponsored the UK games on local radio and listened to them faithfully in their home. The game was always on the radio if you visited they during game time at their home. Grace and Herbert traveled extensively throughout the United States in their later years, visiting 49 states. They had dreams of visiting Alaska but never made it. Hawaii was heir favorite destination to visit and they spoke fondly of their time there.
Grace suffered a second tragedy when Herbert died at a much too young age on September 6, 1996. She continued to manage their rental properties after his death as well as their property in Tennessee. He extended family visited her often until her death to try to fill the void of Herbert's death.',
