'Hattie Baker West was born December 23, 1929, in Wayne County, the daughter of the late Melvin and Mae Kidd Baker. She passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the Wayne County Hospital reaching an age of 89 years.
On February 11, 1949 she united in marriage with Robert West who passed away December 30, 2004. To this 55-year union two children sere born; Julie Ann and her husband Billy Patton and Sharon Dale and her husband Keith Bertram.
Also surviving are her grandchildren: Carter Tucker, Beth Dean, Justin Higginbotham, Brandi Shelton and Trever Bertram; great grandchildren: Bryant and Braiden Dean, Colin, Aidan and Ian Tucker, Cora and Ella Bertram, Troy Vaughn, Raden, Rylee, Emma and Jase Shelton, Atticus Brown and Tyler Patton and her sister, Shirley Abbott.
She is preceded in death by her siblings: Evelyn Tucker, Alta West, Joyce Gregory, Kenneth Baker and Ralph Baker.
Hattie worked for many years as a seamstress in the local clothing manufacturing. As a young lady, she accepted Christ as her Savior and became a member of the Big Springs Baptist Church where she was not only the eldest member but a faithful lifetime member.',
