'Hiram Upchurch Jr. was born in the Susie community of Wayne County, February 15, 1940 the son of the late Hiram Upchurch Sr. and Oma Lee Morris. He departed this life, early Monday morning at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

On June 16, 1962 he united in marriage with Sara Belle Foley Upchurch who survives. To this 53 year union four children survive: Suzanne Upchurch Bell and Jerry Neal, Allyson and her husband Russell Tucker, Webb and wife Jody Upchurch and Blake Upchurch.

Surviving are his grandchildren: Sloane Marcum, Tyler Bell, Hailee Neal, Bryson Tucker, Kenzie Shelton, Jase Tucker, Carlie and Clay Upchurch; great grandchildren: Dawson, Belle, Maddie and Kolton Marcum and Lily Bell. Also surviving are his siblings: Norma (Carl) Upchurch, Bob (Mary) Upchurch and Betty (the late Don) Huffaker and four nieces and two nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Ralph Upchurch, a nephew Terry Upchurch and his grandparents Frank and Martha Gilbert Upchurch and W A and Arissa Jane Dishman Morris.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and served his country with honor in Germany. After his service to this country he worked with the Ford Motor Company and worked for many years in the heating and cooling industry. Junior had accepted Christ as his Savior as a young man and became a lifetime member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he served his church as Deacon, teacher, leader and faithful servant.
