'Homer Jones, age 82 the son of the late Richard and Elza Gregory Jones was born July 11, 1925 in the Slavens community of McCreary County. He departed this life Wednesday, May 7th at his home in the Coopersville community of Wayne County.

On March 31, 1945 he united in marriage with his wife of 63 years, Beatrice Gilbert Jones who survives. To this union nine children survive; Gloria Decker of Burnside, Faye Coffey, Rosemary Foster, Sylvia Bell, Kenneth, Dennis, Porter, Donnie, and Eddie Jones all of Wayne County. His infant daughter, Emma Jean and son Johnny Wayne Jones precedes him in death.

Also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; his sister, Wilma Jean Dobbs and brothers, Reese, Ray, Austin and Charles Jones, with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Dennis and brothers, Willie, Cecil, Clifford and Oscar Jones.

Homer was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church in McCreary County and attended the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

The funeral service was held Sunday afternoon with Bro. Kenneth Thompson and Bro Curtis Burnett officiating with burial in the Burkes Cemetery.
