Huey Abbott passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, reaching the age of 74 years. He was born April 2, 1951, in Monticello, Wayne County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Oscar Abbott and the late Evelyn Dishman Abbott Smith. He was born into a family of 11. Huey loved all his family and friends.

He is survived by his son, Michael Huey Abbott (Katie); one sister, Margie Crabtree; and granddaughter Whitney Powell (Greg); grandson, Brandon Powell (Erin); and two great grandchildren, Preston Hicks and Charlotte Ann Hicks. He is also survived by his ex-wife and mother of his children, Maggie Anna Duncan (Cornelius); step-son, Thomas Smith; special companion, Norma Smith; sisters-in-law, Barbara Abbott and Katy Abbott; several nephews and nieces; along with a host of family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Oscar Abboott and Evelyn Smith, he was preceded in death by: his daughter, Jennifer Ann Abbott Powell; and brothers, Randall Abbott (Betty), Barton Abbott (Ethel), Donnie Abbott, Leonard Abbott, Cletus Abbott, and Bruce Abbott (Jan); and brother-in-law, Ray Crabtree.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, between 11 am – 1 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at 1 pm at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
