Jack departed this life on January 4, 2021 reaching the age of 82 years.

He was born on November 20, 1938 to the late James and Alice (Southwood) Burks.

He was united in marriage to Lena Abbott Burks on January 3, 1962. They were married for 58 years.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, James and Alice (Southwood) Burks; brothers, Robert and Jimmy Burks; sisters, Ruth Hicks, Vena Peercy, Veola Pennington, and Mary Vivian Humble Dodson.

He is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn his passing.

Jack was a veteran, carpenter, farmer and loved to play his guitar and sing.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 11 am until 12 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 12 pm at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Bethesda Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to: First Church of the Nazarene Building Fund.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and upon recommendations from the Governor's Office for Funeral Homes, there will be some restrictions for service attendance.  You are asked to please wear a mask or facial covering and observe the social distancing guidelines.  No communal food or drinks are allowed at this time.  Please feel free to sign the online guestbook or send a private condolence message through out website.
