Obituary

'Jack Logan Lair , age 81 was born in Monticello, October 20th, 1925 the son of the late Willie and Martha Elizabeth Jones Lair. He departed this life Saturday evening, June 2nd at his home on Wayne Street.

On October 9th, 1948 he united in marriage with his wife of 58 years, Pauline Johnson Lair. Surviving are two sons, Monte Wayne and his wife Mary Jo Lair and Kerry Douglas and his wife Debbie Lair.

Also surviving are three grandchildren; Monica Stinson, Mitchell and Kelly Lair; two great-grandchildren, Allie and Andrew; his sister, Betty Tate Smith and brothers Bobby and Eddie Lair.

Jack was a retired engineer with the Kentucky Department of Highways with 30 years of service. He was, a licensed surveyor, former deputy Sheriff, a volunteer firefighter with the Monticello Fire Department for over 30 years and was presently a member of the Monticello School Board where he had served for 20 years. He served his country with honor in the Navy during the Second World War and was a lifelong member of the Monticello United Methodist Church.
