Jame s Ovid Barnett passed away at Rush County Memorial Hospital in Rushville, Indiana, the evening of April 1, 2021.  He was 91 years of age.

H e was t he first son of Rufus Beckham Barnett and Iona Lillion Powell Barnett, he was born in Monticello, Kentucky May 21, 1929 .  He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.  In 1972, he married Osceola Moore, who preceded him in death. A long time resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, he retired from Miller Veneer s in 1991. A long standing member of Fall Creek Baptist Church , he served over the years as an usher and helped with maintenace of the grounds.

His older sisters, Velma Elizabeth Trueblood (Robert), Iona Vivian Popplewell (Erv), and Mary Eleanor Smith (Hershel), two younger brothers, Elbern Rufus Barnett (Margie Morrow) and Milton Gene Barnett (Mildred Thompson), and two younger sisters, Mildred Carol Barnett and Marjorie Geraldine Barnett all preceded him.  He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.  He was much loved and will be sadly missed.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 from 5pm until 8pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 11am at the Hickey Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
