'James Grant Hammond, was born April 29, 1954 in Somerset, the son of the late Marvin and Alpha Branscum Hammond. He departed this life, Monday, July 10th at the Veteran Hospital in Lexington reaching an age of 63 years.

He is survived by his daughter: Kathlene Hammond and grandchildren: Kyle and Cory Hammond.

Also surviving are his siblings: Eleonore (Bobby) Gregory, Kay Stringer, Faye Silvers, Marvin Lee (Beulah) Hammond, Sue Carol Smith, Gloria (Ron) Mardis, Shirley Simpson and Nancy (Jim) Brown.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Alma Smith and Charles Paul Hammond.

James worked for many years with the DC Trimble Company and was presently employed with Krogers. He had accepted Christ as his savior as a young man and was a member of the Slate Branch Baptist Church in Somerset.
