Obituary

'James Sherman Patton was born on May 20th, 1919 at Savage in Clinton County, Kentucky to Thomas Granville Patton and Ida Belle Upchurch who passed away on November 8th, 2012 at the Wayne County Hospital. He is survived by his wife Audrey Elizabeth (Foster) Patton and four children: Bennie Gayle (Sharon Fay Hancock) Patton, Elizabeth Carol Keeton, Jerry Thomas (Rita Joyce Roberts) and William Sherman Patton.

He is survived by his grandchildren Jeffrey Thomas Sexton, Denise Elizabeth Sexton (Hillard Pernel) Branham, Claudia Gayle Patton (Frank Keith) Lanter, Marie Lynn Patton (Thomas David) McFarland, Rachel Carol Patton (Adam Paul) Vaughn, Autumn Caroline Keeton (Jason Scott) Bertram and John Thomas (Marissa Nicole Slone) Patton.

Ten great grandchildren survive; Seth Edward Sexton, Jonathan Tyler Day, Owen Thomas McFarland, Molly Lynn McFarland, Trevor Dean McFarland, Patrick Dean McFarland, Micah Alexander Vaughn, Chloe May Vaughn, Victoria Ryan Vaughn and McKenzie Claire Patton and one great-great grandchild, Tavyn Edward Sexton.

Surviving are his sisters; Flonnie Belle Patton Huddleston, Ora Dean Patton Wray, and Odean Patton Duvall. Preceding him in death were his parents, Thomas and Ida Upchurch Patton, brothers, Elmer Logan Patton, John Granville Patton and infant sister Anna Patton.

James Patton was a Sgt., Troop E in the 94th Mechanized Recon. Squadron, 14th Armored Division 802 Tank Destroyer which fought in southern France and Germany. He served from May7, 1942 until January 7, 1946. After the war, he worked on construction of the Wolf Creek Dam and for the Ford garages in Albany and Monticello, Kentucky. He then worked at the Monticello Machine Shop over 30 years before retiring.

He was also a longtime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Masons.
