'James Powell was born in the Pueblo community of Wayne County, August 4, 1944 the son of the late Hubert F. and Lola Effie Simpson Powell. He departed this life Sunday evening, February 7th at his home surrounded by his family.

On December 20, 1964 he united in marriage with Carolyn McKay Powell who survives. To this fifty-one-year union two children survive: Cara Wynn Powell and her husband Randy Cole and James Allen \u0027Jay\u0027 and his wife Suzanna Powell.

Also surviving are his grandchildren: David and Caitlyn Cole and Dylan and Kallie Powell and his siblings: Geneva Denney, Kathleen Burkhart and HM Powell with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.

James worked for several years in the clothing industry as a machine technician, but farming was always his passion. He had accepted Christ as his Savior as a young man and was a member of the Clay Hill Baptist Church at the time of his passing.
