Obituary
'James David, better known as JD Smith, age 77 of the Murl community passed away Monday, February 9th at the VA Hospital in Lexington.
He was born October 12, 1931, in Clinton County, the son of Daniel and Hattie Cooksey Smith, both of whom precedes him in death. He was the youngest of four children including one half-brother, Jimmy Smith and two half-sisters, Ruby French and Bonnie Lewis all of Indianapolis, Indiana.
On December 21, 1960 he married Mary Neal Smith, who survives. Also surviving is one son, David Smith of Mocanaqua, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Sandy Smith and a step-daughter, Dianne Hughes both of Monticello, as well as one granddaughter, two step-grandchildren and two great-step grandchildren.
He was a Korean War veteran, serving in the US Army until November 27, 1959.
