'Joe Ellis Gregory, age 75 was born November 18, 1937 in the Rocky Branch community of Wayne County, the son of the late Wolford L. and Mamie Lola Criswell Gregory. He departed this life Wednesday evening, July 3rd at the Wayne County Hospital after an extended illness.

On September 6, 1957 he united in marriage with his wife: Anna Jane Ragan Gregory who passed away October 26, 2009. To this union three children survive; Connie Hicks of Monticello, David Gregory of Whitley City and Kevin Gregory of Monticello.

Also surviving is his brother: Ruell Gregory; seven grandchildren; Melissa Perdue, Brian Hicks, Adam Hicks, Lucas Gregory, Sarah Creekmore, Kayla Jo Hancock and Matthew Gregory; great grandchildren, Daniel, Lydia, Taylor Hick, Payton, Joseph and Evelynn Hicks, Eli Perdue and Riley Hancock; step grandchildren: Jessica Shelton and Corey Stearns and step great grandchild: Ryan Shelton.

He is preceded in death by his siblings: Janice Davenport, Sue Swail, Rondal Gregory and an infant sister: Mary Landis Gregory.

Joe Ellis accepted Christ as his Savior as a young man and was a lifelong member of the Canada Creek Baptist Church where he served his church as Deacon.

Saturday from 5 to 9 and Sunday until service time

3PM Sunday at Canada Creek Baptist Church
