'Joe Martin Shearer was born September 24th, 1945 the son of the late Wilson and Dimple Cross Shearer. Joe departed this life Sunday morning at the University of Kentucky Hospital reaching an age of 72 years.
On July 6th, 1968 he united in marriage with Carol New Shearer who survives. To this 49-year union three children were born: Jeffrey and his wife Katina Shearer; Allison and husband Gabe Heatherly and the late William Shearer who passed away March 16th, 2006.
Also surviving are his siblings: Dr. Mary Eva Shearer, Danny (Betty) Shearer and Mike Shearer; and grandchildren: Trevor, Nicholas and Emily Shearer and Adeline, Abigail and Annabell Heatherly.
Joe farmed the family farm for many years until he took the position as Head of Maintenance with the Wayne County School System. He was also a successful restaurateur as owner of the Cumberland Dairy and Shearer Buffet. Joe had accepted Christ as his Savior and was a faithful member of the Monticello First Baptist Church.',
