Johnny McAlpin, cherished husband, loving father, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on July 4th, 2024. He was born on January 13th, 1946, in Ferguson, KY, to John Ernest McAlpin and Faye McAlpin (Lawless).
Johnny was the beloved husband of Phyllis McAlpin (Whittenburg) and a devoted father to Laura and John McAlpin (Sabrina McAlpin). A brother to Jim McAlpin (Gail) of Somerset Ky.; Six grandchildren, Samuel, Preston, Alyssa, Amber, Autumn, and Ethan. He also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will deeply miss him.
Johnny's life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his family, whom he cherished above all else. He found immense joy in simple pleasures such as fishing, listening to country music, and gathering with loved ones. His warm presence, infectious sense of humor, and gift for storytelling brought laughter and joy to all who knew him.
In his community, Johnny volunteered at the Monticello Fire Department for over 5 years, embodying a spirit of selflessness and duty. He was also known for his passion for purebred dogs, a hobby that brought him much happiness.
Above all, Johnny's faith was central to his life. His deep love for the Lord guided him in everything he did, and his kindness and compassion touched the lives of many.
Johnny McAlpin's legacy of love, generosity, and faith will continue to inspire all fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by his family, friends, and community.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 11 AM- 1 PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel with brother Nick Catron officiating.
After the service, burial services will be held at Elk Spring Cemetery.
Hickey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
