IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Brammer
August 15, 1930 – September 8, 2022
Leta Faye Cooper Brammer , age 92, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2022, at her home in the Susie community of Wayne County, after an extended illness. She was born August 15, 1930, at Frazer, KY, in Wayne County, the daughter of Thomas Henry Cooper and Maudie Mercer Cooper.
Leta Faye is survived by two of her three sons, Shelby Thomas (Kim) Brammer of Richmond, KY, and Ben (Carolyn) Brammer of Monticello, KY. Her son Joe Brammer of Monticello, KY passed away in 2000. She has two granddaughters, Sara (Brock) Corder of Richmond, KY, and Kristin (Mike) McDevitt of Brownsburg, Indiana. She has two grandsons, Travis Brammer (Erica Casada) of Monticello, KY, and Shane Brammer (who passed away in 2003). She has seven great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Faye Corder, James Corder, Leta McDevitt, Andrew Brammer, Sophie Brammer, Jakob Brammer, and Memphis Brammer.
She is survived by one sister, Mary Lou Wiggen, of Houston, Texas, by one sister-in-law, Geneva Cooper, of Monticello, KY, and by many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her twin brother Dick Kaye, who died in infancy; by her brother John Thomas Cooper; by three sisters, Geneva Cooper (died in infancy), Margaret Cooper Miles and Emogene Cooper; and by two brothers-in-law, J.W. Miles and Eugene Wiggen.
Leta Faye was united in marriage with Shelby Thomas Brammer at Tuttle's Chapel Methodist Church on August 18, 1951. Together they raised three sons at the family farm at Susie. Leta Faye was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church for more than 70 years. She always considered it her privilege to serve the Lord by teaching Sunday school, sharing Jesus at Vacation Bible School, and playing the piano during worship. She especially enjoyed cooking for church dinners and gathering with her church family.
Leta Faye obtained her degree in Home Economics from University of Kentucky in 1954 and continued her education until she achieved her Rank 1. She became the first School Food Service Director and dietician for Wayne County schools in 1959. In her 37-year career at Wayne County she saw many changes and served millions of meals greeting children as she handed them their trays. Schools closed, grades changed buildings, and new schools were built but her purpose remained the same. She wanted to feed each child a healthy, nutritious meal. Her career and the people she worked with gave her great joy.
Funeral services will be held, September 15, 2022, at 11:00, at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Earnest Mann officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be on September 14, 2022, from 5:00 to 8:00. Burial is in the family plot in Elk Spring Cemetery, Monticello, KY.
In honor of her love for feeding children, expressions of sympathy and memorials may be made to: The Wayne County Backpack Program, c/o Wayne County Cardinal Family Resource Center, 120 Cave Street, Monticello, KY 42633.
