'Lucille Hoover Ringley began her life on this earth December 12, 1928 and arrived in Heaven December 23, 2011 after God called her home. She is the eldest of two daughters of Lindsey and Ora (Bertram) Hoover. Lucille gave her life to Jesus Christ, her Lord and Saviour and centered her life on Christ from the tender age of 9 years old while a member of Gap Creek Baptist church until her passing at which time, she was a long time member of Elk Spring Valley Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, choir member and assisted in Vacation Bible School for over fifty years.
Lucille was a member of the Gideon Auxiliary, Eastern Star, and the Emmaus Walk. While active in the Auxiliary, Lucille served as KY State Chaplain, State Area Zone Leader and State Area Coordinator as well as holding several local camp offices and attending International conventions.
Lucille married Kirby Ringley, August 27, 1952 and to this 59 year union, three children were born: Kevin (Debby), Kenneth (Barbara) and Cheryl. From her children, she has three grandsons: Keith (Susan) Ringley, Kyle Ringley and Kane (Mary) Ringley and two step-grandsons: Jeff (Patricia) Baker and Anthoney Baker and four step great grandchildren. Also surviving is her only sibling, Lois Hoover Talcott of Indianapolis, Indiana and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Even though she loved her family with all of her heart, Jesus came first in her daily walk.
Lucille started teaching in a one room schoolhouse on an emergency certificate and after graduating from Cumberland College, Williamsburg, KY, she continued to teach until her marriage at which time, she joined her husband at Great Lakes (Illinois) and worked at Civil Service on the Naval base. Kirby was re-assigned to Norfolk, VA and while there, Lucille attended Beauty School to become a beautician and gave birth to their first child, Kevin. After the Korean war, Kirby and Lucille returned home to continue their family, Kenneth and Cheryl. Lucille served as Windy Postmaster for three years then resumed her teaching career. After 32 years of teaching, Lucille retired. At that time, both Lucille and Kirby began volunteering with the Kentucky Baptist Disaster Relief in several states, including Kentucky. Among her talents, crocheting and making sourdough bread, she loved sharing the bread with family and friends more than anything. Lucille loved all kinds of flowers and how they brightened the world around us but asked that in lieu of flowers for her funeral, she wanted everyone to please donate to the Gideon Memorial Bible Fund so that more souls would spend eternity in Heaven. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, best friend and sister and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
