'Luid Eugene Martin, age 83 was born October 2, 1920 at Denney, Kentucky, the son of the late George Alvis and Florence Denney Martin. He went home to be with the Lord, May 23, 2014 at his home in the Clay Hill community, at 10:15AM.
He was the oldest of the George and Florence Martin children. Luid is survived by brothers: Lloyd, Logan and Charlie Martin. He was preceded in death by one brother: Melvin and three sisters: Martha, Mary and Leeatrice Martin; sisters-in-law: Josie and Edna Martin.
On October 31, 1969 Luid united in marriage with Phyllis Phillips Foster, to this union a son was born: Richard Luid Martin who survives along with his wife Delynna. Also surviving are his step children: Rev. Larry and wife Robin Foster, Vicky Foster Wingerter and husband Jim, Tim and wife Sheila Foster, and Mike Foster and his wife Tracy. His son Jeff foster passed away in 2012 and is survived by his wife, JoAnn.
Surviving are two granddaughters: Shelby and Taylor; four step granddaughters: Stacy, Scarlet, Samantha and Jerri Foster; four step grandsons: Kevin, James, Jimmy and Robert Foster; two step great grandchildren: Hunter and Bailey Foster.
In 1959 Luid was saved and joined the Clay Hill Baptist Church, he later moved his membership to the Freedom Baptist United Baptist Church where he served as deacon and treasurer as long as his health permitted.
In 1995 he retired from the Wayne County Board of Education after many years of service as a mechanic and bus driver. He was a hard worker and very devoted to the church and his family. He loved everybody and went peacefully to be with his Lord, with his family by his bed side, he is sadly missed by his family
