'Mabel Young Branscum was born November 25, 1916 in the Delta community of Wayne County, the daughter of the late Gilse and Rilda New Young. She departed this life, Saturday morning, June 20, 2015 at the Wayne County Hospital.
On August 6, 1938 she united in marriage with her husband of 75 years, Charlie H. Branscum who passed away July 22, 2014. Surviving are her eight children: Jimmy and wife Betty Branscum of Indianapolis, IN, Pearl and husband Pete Neeley of Somerset, Adell and her husband Bruce Singleton of Ashville, NC; Ruby and husband Darrell Denny of Monticello, Ina and Tivis Ratliff of Kingsport, TN, Willard and wife Ginny Branscum of Somerset, Mary and husband Jim Ashburn of Monticello, Carol and husband Terry Alton of Monticello.
Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and four step grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren; one brother: Authur Young of Indianapolis and three sisters; Corda Branscum, Grace Routh and Lenna Mae Houchins with many friends and relatives remain to mourn her passing.
Mabel was preceded in death by her siblings: Clella Hardwick, Etta Horton, Ola Young, George, Willie, Roy, Estel, Denver and Billy Young.
She accepted Christ as her Savior and became a member of the Zion Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member as long as her health permitted.
She was a housewife and loved to give from her heart. She made quilts for everyone near and far and said there was love in every stitch of the quilts she made. Mabel loved to work in her flowers, cook big meals and work with Charlie on the farm.

Monday evening from 5 to 9 at the the Funeral Home and Tuesday from 9 to 11 at the Church.
