Margie Lucille Edwards Hancock age 88, was born November 1, 1931, the daughter of the late Hershal and Hattie Edwards. She departed this life Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, KY. On December 17, 1949 she united in marriage with John Homer Hancock who passed away August 18th, 2004.
To this 54 year union two daughters survive; Frances and husband Mike Meece and Joetta and husband Danny Choate and son-in-law, Gary Stinson. She is also survived by a sister, Maxine Rednour and a sister-in-law, Edna Edwards. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Melanie Edwards, Johnny Stinson, Eddie Meece, Michelle McGuire, Misti Meece and Donavan Stinson; and six great grandchildren, Marissa Meece, Josh Plowman, Brittany Stinson, Samantha Edwards, Dakota Stinson and Lee Blythe; along with a host of other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Fonda Stinson; a grand dog, Buddy; a sister, Madge Davis; two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Edwards; and a brother-in-law, Robie Rednour.
She retired from the Wayne County School System after 35 years of working as a lunchroom cook. She enjoyed the children and faculty that passed through her lunchroom each day. She made lifelong friends with many of them.
Mrs. Hancock accepted Christ as her Savior as a young lady and was a lifetime member of the Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church where she was the eldest member.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2020 between 3 pm - 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11 am at the Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Edwards Chapel Cemetery.
