Mary Alene Barnett was born on December 6, 1934 in the Gregory community of Wayne County.  She departed this life for her heavenly home on September 24, 2020.

Alene is the daughter of Delbert and Vada Baker Morrow.  She had 7 siblings who all preceded her in death.  They were sisters, Lela Schmidt, Glenna Keith, Leta New, Grace New. Brothers, Harry, Lawrence and Harley Morrow.

She is the widow of Rex Mitchell Barnett who was the love of her life.  They had 4 children, all who survive: Danny (wife Janice); Gary (wife Sharon); Steve (wife Kathy); and Tim (wife Annie).  There are 7 grandchildren surviving: Jeremy, Seth, Tabitha, Kamron, Chase, Mariah and Dustin.  Jessica, daughter of Steve, preceded Alene in death.  There are 5 great-grandchildren, Avary, Corbin, Lakelyn, Jordan and Bentley.

Alene trusted and made the Lord Jesus Christ her Savior when she was 12 years old.  She is a member of Big Sinking Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 27, 2020 between 5 pm – 8 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 28, 2020 at 1 pm at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.
