'Mitchell Blane Guffey of Frazer, Kentucky (Wayne County, Monticello) was born on October 16, 1952; he passed from this life on July 25, 2014 at the age of 61. His parents were Howard Ray and Lena Laverne (Dolly) Guffey. Blane (Mitch) has one brother, Johnny Stuart Guffey. Blane married Karen Annette Marcum on July 24, 1971.

Blane was a retired high school and college teacher; he truly loved being a teacher. Blane also loved his family and friends dearly; he was blessed with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, a brother and sister in-law and their spouses, nieces, a nephew, two great-nephews, and friends collected through the ages.

Blane (Mitch) had a variety of interests. He loved music. He loved history and many other intellectual pursuits. He loved nature and the environment as he belonged to several agencies such as the Sierra Club, National Wildlife Federation, and Greenpeace, etc. He loved his animals; it was his mission to save as many as he possibly could. His home was a testimony of his passion for dogs and other species.

Most importantly, Blane marveled at the creator of this universe. As a youth, he accepted God\u0027 son, Jesus Christ, as his savior. As Blane begins a new journey into Glory; his family and friends will celebration his departure with a visitation at the Hickey and Son Funeral Home in Monticello, Kentucky on Monday July, 28 from 5:00 - 9:00. The service honoring his life will be on Tuesday July, 29 at 10:00 at the funeral home chapel. The burial will follow at the New Salem Baptist Church cemetery at Frazer, Kentucky.
